Yet again the staff of MNPA have come up with a novel way of raising money for our current Charity of the Year, Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Inter-departmental Copper Wars began on Monday 25 July, where each department was given a plastic jar which would be collected at 4pm on Friday 29 July. The aim was to fill the jar with more coppers than rival departments, but there was a twist; silver, pound coins and bank notes scored negatively against the total, allowing staff to sabotage opposing departments’ jars.
Throughout the week a number of departments’ appeared to take the lead when, on the Thursday, Implementation deposited 3 jars worth of coppers and became the obvious favourites to take the Copper Wars crown. However, at 3.30pm on the Friday, it seemed a number of departments had a game plan and were frantically filling their jars with coppers or were sabotaging those who looked to be in the lead.
Following the intense competition, the jars were counted from both the Leatherhead and Birmingham offices. The Implementation jars had been heavily sabotaged, so although they managed to raise a massive £66.46 in coppers, their non-copper total was £133.30; leaving them with a Copper Wars total of -£66.84! The winning departments were Events from the Leatherhead office, with a Copper Wars total of £4.77, and Management from the Birmingham office with -£1.90. The event was a tremendous success and MNPA managed to raise a total of £567.64 across both offices.
This was the last event raising funds for our current Charity of the Year Alzheimer’s Research UK and over the last 12 months a grand total of £2,340.92 has been raised. A big thank you goes out to everyone that has contributed to raising funds for such a worthwhile charity.
