Five go rambling in London
Taking a lead from Enid Blyton’s famous novels, on Sunday 17 August, 2008 5 members of MNPA Sarah and Phil Boyle, Tracey-Anne Campbell, Mike Wood and Paul Vogado took part in the London Bridges Walk 2008 in aid of the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund on behalf of Chase Hospice care for children, together raising over £775.
Based just outside Guildford the CHASE Ben Hollioake Fund was set up after the death of England and Surrey cricketer Ben Hollioake. The fund, in association with CHASE hospice care for children in raising money to support life limited children and their families.
The event crosses over 9 bridges from the start at Tower Bridge to Vauxhall Bridge and on the way passes a number of famous sights such as the London Eye and Westminster. As an incentive, everyone completing the course was able to rest their aching feet and watch a Natwest Pro 40 League game between Surrey CCC and Northamptonshire CCC at the nearby Brit Oval. The weather stayed dry, and Surrey won the cricket. All in all it was a very good day.
